Curiosity killed the cat 🐈

The legend of curiosity, the legend of which no one but everyone knows the full story. But all they ever told us was “he killed the cat”. What they didn't tell us was that he got tired of cats, the felines got boring. He wanted some excitement, he needed it and what else could quench that hunger he felt… yeah you got it, US. 'Humans are higher animals, with ability to decipher right from wrong bla bla bla'. Let’s give these smart ones a little tickle, a little prod here and there and voila like the biblical serpent he crept up to us, to our necks, the slimy bastard; whispering questions.
“Baby that’s fire, it burns, it’ll hurt you!” Mommy says. Baby turns away and mommy leaves thinking she saved the day. But He laughs and whispers to little innocent baby. “See how it glows, so bright. Look at that colour, all blue and orange; so pretty. It couldn’t hurt you. How could something so enchanting do that?”. Baby turns, reaches out and touches it. It flows through her fingers to her arms, chest, ears and head, warm at first then numb and few wails later her fingers are covered in Vaseline and baby learns one thing the hard way. The first of many.

Fast forward to 14 years later; baby is 16. Not so much of a baby now, are we?. Baby should be smarter, more knowledgeable, baby should know that voice now... how it differs from the others. Soft, coaxing, inviting but how could she, he comes with a million faces. Bursting in at the most inappropriate moments. Like now, this moment of awkward silence. Our baby knew she shouldn’t be here, locked up in a room with him. They had run out of things to talk about but she looked on, holding that smile till he leaned in and kissed her. “Now is the TIME TO GO”, said the voice of reason. She knew that voice and although she was always right, she was a bloody know-it-all. Baby didn’t like her much. Then she heard it, she heard him… that voice, it said “Wait! What’s the worst that could happen? He’s a nice guy and he likes you, you’ve seen him gawking at you a hundred times... remember how that made you feel? It could get better. WAIT FOR IT”. Baby waits, he watches her and sees that she senses no danger, he carries on. Few minutes later, they lie together though not together for what brought them so close, tore one apart. She would never be whole again. “Funny thing; what we did, he can’t even look at me now. I’d better leave”. Now she leaves, another lesson learned.
Curiosity gets the best of us for we do not own him, he cannot be owned and most times cannot be fought and so we cannot win. So it has been established that curiosity killed the cat but he kills on.
